HOW THE POWER PACK PQP WORKS

PVEL’s Power Pack PQP brings inverter buyers together to crowdsource performance and reliability testing for solar inverters:

  • Asset owners, investors and other downstream companies sign up for testing.
  • PVEL sources commercially-available inverters to test.
  • All test results are shared transparently with Power Pack PQP participants.
  • Companies that sign up to test three or more products receive a free benchmarking analysis.

Interpreting results from PVEL's High Temperature Operation Endurance Test for a commercial string inverter

Inverter derated past its datasheet derate and is underperforming within its stated operating temperature window.
Component temperatures did not stabilize until the end of the test, which shows that the inverter was unable to regulate its temperature. Operating at high temperatures stresses components and can lead to failure.
Inverter initially derated and was able to cool its components, but only temporarily. Poor inverter design and low quality components can contribute to this misoperation.
