Our PQP helps you mitigate risk in procurement.

Transform PVEL’s industry-leading bankability testing into procurement intelligence with our PQP (Product Qualification Program). We offer a PQP for PV modules and energy storage.

Technical diligence for equipment selection

Solar projects are planned with sophisticated revenue and energy yield models, but these models are only as accurate as the data behind them. Our PQP replaces performance assumptions with empirical metrics. Manufacturers that participate in our PQP can share test reports to access PVEL’s vast network of project developers, investors, and other downstream companies conducting technical due diligence.

Our testing principles

No hand-picked samples

All Bills of Materials (BOMs) of products submitted to PQP testing are witnessed in production from opening of raw materials packages through every step of the production process, to wrapping a completed pallet in tamper-proof tape.

Standardized processes

All BOMs are tested in the same way using consistently calibrated equipment and in consistent laboratory environments. This enables a leveled comparison across all manufacturers.

Empirical data

We are dedicated to replacing performance assumptions with empirical metrics that help our downstream partners optimize revenue and energy yield models.

5 reasons to sign up

1. Build confidence in your equipment.

Facilitate financing by using trusted, independent data to show that assets will meet lifetime revenue expectations.

2. Go beyond certification testing.

IEC and UL certifications only guarantee products are minimally safe and free from obvious defects. They do not test long-term performance.

3. Don’t count on warranties.

Claims can be overly difficult to pursue and they do not fully cover financial losses. Start with reliable technology instead.

4. Build better models.

Standard test conditions (STC) are not reality. Use field and laboratory performance data to forecast energy yield instead of relying on STC measurements.

5. Know your BOM.

Even small BOM changes can dramatically impact reliability. Modifications are not always listed on datasheets.

PVEL's Standard PQP Testing

Our PQP begins with factory production witnesses. Each PV module undergoes a unique sequence of testing designed by PVEL with regular feedback from the market including downstream buyers, independent engineers, manufacturers, and leading research institutions around the world.

PQP tests for modules

  • Light induced degradation
  • Thermal cycling
  • Damp heat
  • Backsheet durability
  • Light and elevated Temperature Induced Degradation (LeTID)
  • Mechanical stress sequence
  • Hail stress sequence
  • Potential induced degradation
  • PAN File & IAM
  • Field exposure & performance
